Mustache: (n) A strip of hair left to grow above the upper lip.
Normally men are seen sporting the mustache, but lately I've seen men AND women with them. Usually they are not real mustaches, but items such as necklaces, drinking glasses, toys, candies and much more. To give you a quick history lesson, the mustache has been seen in portraits dating all the way back to 300 BC into the modern day.
But back to the topic. I think the mustache has become gender neutral. Normally men are the primary people who wear a mustache, but even young girls are getting into the 'stache. My roommate was talking about getting a Christmas gift for her sister and how she was planning on getting her a jar with a mustache on it. This kind of confused me, especially because I didn't "get it." I have tried to look into in online and find out what started the mustache revolution, but no luck. While I'm not sure what started the mustache trend (maybe it was a coolhunter), it has really taken off. There are even social media sites dedicated to this. I have seen people compare the mustache trend to planking and thinking it is just a fad and will disappear soon.
I'm not so convinced it's going away anytime soon. I have seen entire websites like this one: Mustache Stuff and this one: More Mustache Stuff, dedicated to selling mustache merchandise. So congrats to the coolhunter who figured this one because I never would've guessed someone could take a boring, hairy mustache and turn it into an empire.
