Disney the influence on my life

From a young age I fell in love with Disney movies partly because they are just fun to watch and party because of the story behind them. Disney movies come from a lot of different sources most of them are from old books that were fairly tales. It was the imagination of Walt Disney that turned these books and stories into movies that are loved today as the dreams of young children. It may be true that they have a negative influence but I still watch Disney movies all the time today and I think I turned out today. So maybe we need to have a different look on how they influence children and how parents are raising their children today. Maybe I did not succumb to this disney princess fad because I was a tomboy and getting me into a dress was hard to do for my parents but I still loved the princess movies. I think they have taught me some valuable lessons about life including to fight for what you believe in from Aladdin fighting for Jasmine, and having hope that life will turn around even when it's at its worst as long as you have a dream from Cinderella. The things we have been discussing about the culture and "true" meanings of the Disney movies maybe the things that adults see but they are not the things that children see when they are watching the movies.

I follow @Disneywords on Twitter and they post of the quotes from Disney movies and I truly believe that if you take lines out of these movies they can give people hope and something to believe in for the future. Disneywords also posted a quiz to find out which Disney Princess you are closest to and I was Jasmine:
"You are Jasmine from 'Aladdin'! You are adventurous, smart, and gorgeous! You have some minor trust issues to deal with, but that's to be expected given your circumstances. Open yourself up to other people, and always stick to your guns! Don't let anyone force you into doing things that make you uncomfortable. One day, it'll all work out for the best!"
I understand that quizzes like this can make people believe that they are actually a princess but I think the issue lies in what parents instill in their children. I was taught how important money was at an early age and that it can't be spent like it is nothing. If more parents can teach their children the true value of money then perhaps the whole princess culture would not be as popular but instead parents cause their children to become who they are when they grow up. Everyone talks about how media has such an effect and what children grow up watching is how they will turn out to be, but I believe the first place you learn how to live life is in your own household. Parents have such an influence that if any issues occur it is usually from something a child observed at home but it is often blamed on the society and media because it is easier to blame everything else but yourself when you are a parent.
