Celebrity Baby Names Blog Post:
Celebrity baby names are a lot like colorful candies in a sweets shop; bold, daring and dynamic. With that being said, I should note that often am I perplexed and intrigued in to the different methodologies behind why celebrities chooses the names in which they do for their children. Classic examples of celebrities in the spotlight for having chosen quirky names for their babies would include public figures like Gwen Stefani, Beyonce, and Demi Moore as each of these women have given names to their children that are indeed peculiar and odd in character. Whether it is Gwen Stefani’s little baby Zuma Nesta Rock, or Beyonce’s newborn Bleu Ivy, there is no denying that these names can indeed raise an eyebrow amongst a crowd. More specifically though, if we examine the subject of vivid baby names as a whole through the study of popular culture we begin to see that these names are a means by which individuals express themselves. The United States is very much a culture that signifies with the idea that men are created equal, and that as such human beings are entitled to personal freedom, in everything from the profession they engage in to clothing they wear. Freedom of expression enables a variety of individuals to make decisions about the lifestyle they create or rather become a part of and it seems that when couples have children they can in theory conjure up creative names for their kids to differentiate themselves as well. Inevitably I think that too quirky celebrity baby names could equally be equated with the likes of fashions that premiere every year down runways in that both are vivid and represent the changes that occur in popular culture on a continuing basis. Simply put, celebrity baby names while bold and colorful are just another way in which individuals can express themselves.
